November 2017 Update

Reubén Pérez-Elvira From Spain Earns His BCN

Mr. Pérez-Elvira, of Mirabel, Extremadura (Spain), is a clinical neuropsychologist. He studied in Salamanca and Pablo de Olavide Universities. He is the CEO of NEPSA Rehabilitación Neurológica, Neuro-Rehabilitations Centers, that are specialized neurorehabilitation clinics, and a provider of QEEG-based Neurofeedback. In his clinic, they treat neurological and psychiatric patients with a wide variety of conditions.  He is also the research representative of IFEN (Institut For EEG-Neurofeedback, Munich). He is one among the first three people obtaining the BCIA certification in Neurofeedback in Spain.

BCIA Welcomes Dr. Adrian Gaitan, BCN from Spain

Adrian Gaitán is the first provider of Neurofeedback in the Cádiz area (South of Spain) in his psychology practice "Clinica Gaitán". In his clinic he has been providing services for children with attention disorder and hyperactivity and learning disabilities, as well as for adults with mood and anxiety disorders or migraine. He is a licensed Clinical Psychologist who discovered that neurofeedback is a great addition to his clinical tools and keeps engaged in continuous learning and perfection of his knowledge and skills. Now, he is one of the few BCIA Certified Neurofeedback providers in Spain, after a long journey of study, practice and mentoring of several years.

The Genie B. Davis Scholarship Class of 2017

BCIA is proud to announce the winners of the scholarship that awards payment of all customary BCIA certification fees to students who took their neurofeedback didactics at a university and who show great promise to the field.  Heather Hitsman (left) and Laurel Cook (right), are pictured with Dr. Davis. Both were recommended by Dr. Mark Jones from the University of Texas, San Antonio.  The awards were presented at the recent Biofeedback Society of Texas Meeting.  Winners not in attendance include: Marilyn Caylor from UTSA and Ashlie Bell, recommended by Don Moss from Saybrook University.

BCIA Announces Important Changes to the Neurofeedback Certification Program
The Board of Directors consistently reviews the certification programs to ensure that they meet the highest standards in credentialing.  We would like to tell you about two important changes.
1.  The human anatomy requirement has been updated to Neuroanatomy.  This will only impact new applications or those who have not yet taken a course to fulfill that standard.  We encourage all those who carry the BCN credential to pursue updated course work in this area as part of their CE requirement for recertification.  2.  Special education is no longer included as a degree for clinical certification.  Those with a degree or background in special education are encouraged to apply for certification as a technician.

State/Regional Meetings  - check out the schedules!

You may be surprised to see the list of state/regional biofeedback society meetings in your area.  Some of the speakers are the same as you'd expect to see at either the AAPB or ISNR annual conferences.  These meetings are a great value and a wonderful way to network with other professionals and update your skills!
