BCIA certifies individuals who meet education and training standards in biofeedback and progressively recertifies those who advance their knowledge through continuing education.

BCIA is recognized as the certification body for the practice of biofeedback by the Association of Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB), the Biofeedback Federation of Europe (BFE), and the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR).

January 2020 Update

Welcome to Joan Sanchez Garcia, BCN  -  From Spain!

Mr. Sanchez Garcia is a licensed psychologist with a master's degree in clinical psychology who is currently focusing on 3rd generation therapies such as ACT Therapy, Strategic Brief Therapy, and Mindfulness. Since he began his path to become BCIA certified in neurofeedback, he has been learning how to apply neurofeedback protocols, not just in the clinical field, but also on high performance with athletes.  Joan is passionate to learn more about the  human sciences and he always tries to find new and more effective ways to help people to reach their goals and feel better. To achieve that, he primarily focuses on two things: the connection between body and mind and the enhancing of consciousness.


BCIA and BCIA-H Welcome Daniela Penettre, BCN

During her undergraduate studies, Daniela completed an internship in a Neuropsychology Clinic (Clínica de Neuropsicología Diagnóstica y Terapéutica) in Mexico City, where she gained experience doing neuropsychological assessments, QEEG based neurofeedback therapy and cognitive reeducation, in both adult and pediatric populations. Daniela completed a Master’s Degree in Behavioral Neurology at the Universidad de León, in Spain, through the Instituto de Altos Estudios Universitarios where she graduated with a thesis in “Psychoneuroimmunology and its link with Neuropsychiatric disorders”. Ms Penettre is an affiliated member of the Mexican Society for Bio and Neurofeedback and the International Society for Neurofeedback & Research (ISNR).

This is our newest BCN from Mexico! Ms. Garciamontes is a neuropsychologist in private practice since 2011, mainly working with children and adolescents in pursuit of their full potential.  She has been using neurofeedback since 2018, working primarily with children having difficulties with impulsivity, hyperactivity, developmental disorders and academic underachievement, in search of functional neurological patterns for better development.

BCIA and BCIA-H Welcome Mauricio González-López, BCN

Mauricio González-López is a licensed psychologist specializing in applied psychophysiology. He has been an assistant researcher in the Institute of Neurobiology of the National Autonomous University in Mexico, where he is currently working on his PhD project. His current research involves the early detection of risk of cognitive decline in healthy elderly, using QEEG. Moreover, he has been studying the neural mechanisms underlying this pathological process by means of different neurobiological tools. He is currently investigating the efficacy of neurofeedback in this population as a “cognitive boost” that may delay the onset of clinical symptoms of cognitive decline. He has presented several talks in national and international conferences, is a member of ISNR and Research, and a member of the board of directors for the Mexican Society for Bio and Neurofeedback since 2016.

Welcome to Rafael Cabeza, BCN from Spain

 Rafael Cabeza has been a psychologist for 30 years and currently works in private practice in Santander, Spain. 

He uses QEEG and different neurofeedback techniques in the treatment of children, adolescents and adults with problems of TDAH, autism, behavioral problems, anxiety, depression, addictions, depression, insomnia and chronic pain.


MaJesus Murelaga Andonegui is our Newest BCN from Spain
Mª Jesus Murelaga Andonegui is a Psychologist in Spain, a specialist in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy of a Psychodynamic orientation, with a wide training background and with more than 30 years of clinical experience that develops in a Multidisciplinary Team at the Burmuin Institute of Bilbao.  She has completed her personal analysis, in addition to several Masters and is a member of different scientific associations.  Her work focuses mainly on adults and young people diagnosed with Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Pain and Addictions (Eating Disorders, OH, Internet and play), both individually and in groups.  The search for the best treatment methods for her patients led her to  enter the world of new Neurotherapies, starting  three years  ago in the qEEG , and continuing  through  the training in Neurofeedback in which she is recently working great interest due to the effectiveness and results obtained.
