As licensed mental health professionals we have an ethical responsibility to everyone that comes to us for help; this starts with a diagnosis. However, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) has three requirements that must be considered and assessed prior to assigning a diagnosis. These are substance abuse issues, medical problems, and environmental issues. This presentation provides case examples where the underlying environmental, physiological, and neurological issues presented as ADHD, anxiety, depression, and psychosis. The methods taught will enhance each attendee’s ability to meet these requirements, bring neuroscience into their practices, and improve their client’s outcomes.
