October 31 - November 4, 2022 (Monday - Friday) Live Online Program

Sponsored by Massachusetts Psychological Association (MPA)

Instructor: Inna Khazan, PhD, BCB - Boston Center for Health Psychology and Biofeedback (also faculty at Harvard Medical School)

Mental health and optimal performance professionals who are interested in broadening their skills and their practice to include biofeedback have an opportunity to get focused, practical training in this area. This 42-hour workshop prepares its participants to immediately begin the practice of biofeedback on the way to board certification.

What is Biofeedback? Biofeedback is an empirically validated, powerful clinical tool that enables clinicians to successfully work with otherwise difficult to treat patients suffering from a variety of psychophysiological disorders. Biofeedback has been shown to be an efficacious treatment for anxiety, chronic pain, migraine and tension headache, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome, Raynaud’s disease, temporomandibular joint disorder, and many others. Biofeedback is also an excellent tool to improve physical and mental performance, especially under stress. Biofeedback has been shown to improve reaction speed, endurance, situational awareness, goal-directed behavior, emotion regulation, ability to problem-solve under pressure, as well as athletic, artistic, and professional performance.

Workshop participants will learn through a combination of lecture, demonstrations, question-and-answer periods, and hands-on practice. This year the workshop is being held online, with 20 hours of live instruction over 5 days, and the rest of the hours completed as self-study prior to the live workshop as well as practical lab work to be done on your own during the week of the workshop using your own equipment.

This workshop is officially approved by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) as an introduction to biofeedback practice. The workshop fulfills all the criteria of didactic training necessary for BCIA board certification in biofeedback. The workshop also offers licensed psychologists 20 hours of continuing education credits approved by Massachusetts Psychological Association.
