AAPB Webinar: Photobiomodulation as a Companion to Neurofeedback Presented by: Penijean Gracefire, MA, LMHC, BCN, qEEG-D About this Presentation: PART 1/April 10: In our first session, Penijean will review the most recent advances in transcranial photobiomodulation technology and discuss ways to pair photobiomodulation with neurofeedback to potentially enhance outcomes. This presentation will focus on sequential and concurrent uses of photobiomodulation and neurofeedback when designing a treatment plan, and evaluate the strengths and limitations of various combinations, including introducing photobiomodulation and neurofeedback in separate session groupings, alternating sessions, sequential use within the same session, and simultaneous administration of both modalities during the same session. PART 2/April 24: In our second session , Penijean will review her most recent advances in closed-loop EEG-modulated photobiomodulation. Her groundbreaking work in this area has continued to evolve since she developed and presented the very first feedback designs using photobiomodulation as an integral element of feedback contingent on dynamic changes in live EEG metrics in 2018. Penijean’s unique approach to layering modalities results in immediate practical suggestions for clinicians, as well as offering an expanded range of options for both future research and increasingly individualized interventions. This presentation will explore the idea that integrating photobiomodulation into an EEG feedback program referencing both power and connectivity metrics could potentially impact brain activity at both the local and the network level.
